Just curious, if anyone knows if Eclipse itself has plans to start using Java 9 modules for its builds?

I think the backward Java 8 compatibility and large existing codebase is keeping it from moving on or will be stuck in the non-Jigsaw world forever?

I believe it's highly unlikely. See this comment from "the expert" on what would be involved.
