I have installed Eclipse for windows but when I open the app i get this message
JAVA was started but returned exit code = 1

How did you install it? If you use the installer it should check which Java versions you have installed and should test each one to determine which will actually be able to launch Eclipse applications and should specifically use that one. If you just unzipped a package, it will use the default Java installation from your PATH or from JAVA_HOME. Which version of Java is being used?
