Hi there,

somewhere in the Javadoc I found a note, that placeholders and their referenced parts by convention have the same ID. I followed this advice and had no problems with it (sticking at Eclipse Photon, due to internal restrictions). Now I tried a port of the E4 RCP to the framework versions 2019-12 and also 2020-03, where (according to my observation) the IDs of the placeholders and parts must not be be the same, otherwise the placeholder elements are not created by the framework. Does anybody have some details on this topic?
Some probably useful background info: the RCP is a pure E4 app. It is highly modular, meaning that nearly everything is contributed to the basic app model via fragments (fragment.e4xmi). The basic app model is similar to to the legacy model.
Thanks in advance!

This could be a regression, you could open a bug report on Eclipse Platform. It would be helpful if you could add a minimal example showing the issue.
