Hello!

Does Sirius directly generate graphical notation from an Ecore's XML file?

Thank you for your attention.

Regards,

Clever.

Hi

Sirius doesn't, but the Sirius-based Ecore Tools project supports drawing diagrams for Ecore models.

Thank you for your reply, Ed!

I've found out this URL: https://projects.eclipse.org/projects/modeling.emft.ecoretools/releases/2.0.0. Could you please recommend other sources of information?

Regards,

Clever.

Hi

That is a page listing all the releases. You will see an "Overview" tab and a "Wiki" link and a "Website" link which probably take you to the various documents/tutorials that you could also find with Google.

Regards

Thank you for your reply, Ed!

I'd already seen the aforementioned project links indeed.

""Overview" tab" => It focuses on using Ecore, rather than using Sirius to generate graphical notation from an Ecore model.

""Wiki" link" => https://wiki.eclipse.org/Ecore_Tools, It doesn't give information on how to use Sirius to generate graphical notation from an Ecore model. This webpage contains a link to Sirius (https://www.eclipse.org/sirius/), but, as you said, "Sirius doesn't, but the Sirius-based Ecore Tools project supports drawing diagrams for Ecore models", so that I'm interested in learning about Sirius-based Ecore Tools project, not general Sirius...

""Website" link" => It leads to the same content of ""Overview" tab".

I'd appreciate if you could inform a URL that specifically deals with my need, i.e., "the Sirius-based Ecore Tools project supports drawing diagrams for Ecore models", in case there's any you occasionally know.

Thank you for your patience and attention.

Regards,

Clever.

Hi Clever,

EcoreTool (https://www.eclipse.org/ecoretools/) will allows you to see/define your Ecore model through diagrams.

Then if you want to create the graphical designer to manipulate the data models create from your Ecore model resulting plugins, you can use Sirius but you will have to create your Viewpoint Specification Model and its representations description (+ tooling) to represent and manipulate your data.

Sirius will not be able to manage your data without this modeler specification. Note that there is currently no tooling to init a diagram description from the Ecore definition of your domain.

You will find some tutorials here: https://www.eclipse.org/sirius/getstarted.html

And documentation among other entry points here: https://www.eclipse.org/sirius/community.html
