Active workspace issue!!! [message #1815920]

i am having an issue in detecting that the Eclipse 2.1.x is running or not. i figured out that it creates a .lock file in the active workspace, but the main problem is
i don't know how to find that file in the workspace. Please provide any solution or is there any code which can help me???

It's in the workspace metadata, i.e., <workspace>/.metadata/.lock.
