Hi,

I have a question on an odd behavior that is occurring when importing my
project post Eclipse 3.4.2 upgrade.

In the project, that I previously created, contains some subfolders and
files. After I had upgraded my Eclipse, I imported this project into my
brand new workspace and discovered the following symptoms in the project:

1) Some sub-folders now display the letters 'JS' in the Project Explorer
view.
2) Moving files from folder to folder does not refresh even though the
workspace preference 'Refresh automatically' is enabled. A manual F5 key
refresh is needed.
3) In some subfolders, the files are not displayed in the Project Explorer
view even after refresh.
4) Restarting Eclipse then resolves this issue.
In the Project Explorer view, the 'JS' folders are now normal unlabeled
folders, moving files from folder to folder refreshes fine, and all files
are displayed. The entire project reacts as it should.

Note: Manually refreshing the project or right clicking 'Close Project'
and reopening did not seem to resolve the issue.
This symptom just started happening during this version migration.

Does anybody know what may be causing this to happen?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Brian Yu

My guess is that those folders are marked as JavaScript Source
folders (or are under one), and that's why you're seeing the JS icon
instead of the usual icon. Much like the Java provider assumes the
responsibility for showing the contents of its Source folders, the
JavaScript one does the same. There do appear to be some issues
with its responsiveness in that release. Can you try applying any
updates you find--my hope is that you'll see some improvement with
the 3.0.5 WTP update.

Hi Nitin,

First off thanks for the reply.

These folders were created as a general folder(New > Folder) and the
parent folder is my own project folder. Just wondering, where would the
folder itself be marked/identified as a JS source?

I have updated the WTP to version 3.0.5, but I am still seeing the same
issues.
Still shooting in the dark on this issue...

Bump.

Running out of ideas for a solution.
Anybody else knows what may be going on here? Any hints/suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Brian

I was also suffering from this problem. I worked around it by deleting the
project, which was of General project type, and re-creating the project as
a PHP Project. This turned all my folders into source folders and done
some other strange things I'm not used to, but there is no more js problem.

Thank you all for responding to this query.

If anybody out there experienced the same symptoms I had, please upgrade to Eclipse 3.5.

After migrating to Eclipse 3.5 Galileo, all the issues I stated in this thread have been patched and is working fine.

Cheers,
Brian
