The headline on the first page of the Business Section in the New York Times of April 23 reads "An Untreatable Killer Leaves China Guessing: African swine fever has swept across the country, the world's largest pork producer. And the government knows about only some of the cases." You can see it at

This piece underscores the importance of the modeling work done by Taras Gunther and Tekla Engelhart who are honored as STEM Modelers of the Year. Congratulations to them both!
