Hi There,

we have updated our RCP application from 4.8. to 4.10 and several user functions are gone now. In the older version of our tycho build product we had:
- A 'Preferences' menu item that opened the regular Eclipse preference dialog containing
a) the 'Secure Storage' settings
b) 'Available Software Sites'
- Two automated appearing p2-menue items in the help menu containing items for
c) 'Install new Software'
d) 'Check for Updates'
- Additionally, from the (Eclipse) About dialog were able to open the 'Installation Details' and could - similar to Eclipse IDE - manage the installation. Now several tabs are gone, like
e) Installed Software
f) Installation History
g) Features

First question: How to get this functionallities back?
Second quenstion: Most likely that has something to do with the improvements in the e4 environment, does it? For the future, how can we know which changes are necessary before a new Eclipse version is released (where to listen or register)?

Thanks in advance,
Christian

Finding some time and reading the p2 tutorial again (see https://wiki.eclipse.org/Equinox/p2/Adding_Self-Update_to_an_RCP_Application), we realized that somehow we removed the p2 dependency from our core product bundle.

Actually, this was done with the 'Dependency Analysis' in the Manifest editor. Here we used 'Find unused dependencies', which finally removed the p2 bundles.

So, obviously this is not a RCP problem but a problem with the dependency analysis and hopefully reporting this little trap will help others.

Best wishes,
Christian
