I don't know why, but one of my projects is using jre instead of jdk.

Here's what I've done:

Ensure that the JDK is in the build path and the jre isnt
Ensure that JDK has a tools.jar file
In the preferences window, only jdk 1.8 is being used
The maven build has 'compile exec:java'
