Cloud connections for industrial devices [message #1801139] Mon, 14 January 2019 09:50 Go to next message

There are several connections that are provided as cloud connections via Camel (REST, IEC 60870-5-104, OPC DA, etc.) and are not available as drivers but only to be used under a publication/subscription paradigm.

However, there are some approaches in which those protocols are used to communicate with industrial devices and the structure of Drivers/Assets is much more useful.

My questions are:

- ¿Is the creation of these drivers in the current roadmap of the project?
- If it isn't, does it make sense to configure the industrial devices as cloud connections as a definitive solution or should the driver be made?
- If cloud connection is the definitive solution for this use case, will it be considered a more asset/variable-oriented approach usage of the Camel broker for these situations?

Hi Pedro,
our current roadmap points to a possible contribution of a native OPCDA driver.
For sure, every contribution from users, especially in terms of new drivers, is more than welcome.

For what I know, since Kura 4.0.0 there are two new components "Camel producer" and "Camel Consumer" that can be added to the wire graph and allow to integrate Camel with Kura Wires.

Best regards,
Matteo

Thank you Matteo. And the IEC-104 is also considered?

About the producer-consumer approach, it is useful but the intention was to get further towards asset and variable hierarchy paradigm if it applies.

It's not considered at the moment.
But, as said, any contribution is more than welcome :-)
