IDE Print greyed out [message #1800556] Wed, 02 January 2019 06:48 Go to next message

Hello,
I'm having an issue with not being able to print an application in ver 1.9 or 1.10 whereas I could in ver 1.8.4.
There is no print icon in the toolbar and the print function in the File menu is greyed out. Several other function sin the file menu such as Save as are also greyed out.
Any help much appreciated , I'm a novice with 4DIAC and have absolutely no experience of eclipse. Thanks.

Hi,

We did a major code clean-up and rework between 1.8 and 1.9. The code for printing was very hard to maintain and because of our limited resources we decided to remove the printing feature. So far we haven't found time to work on it. But as you are not the first to ask I think we should put it on our todo list for 1.11.

In the meantime I mostly use the screenshot function of my operating system to get figures of 4diac IDE FB networks for my publications.

Cheers,
Alois

Thanks for the info Alois.
At least I'm not doing something wrong :-)
For my initial designs at least I've found I can get them into 1.8.4 to print but I look forward to 1.11.

You are welcome!

I just added a bug [1] for tracking the work needed for bringing printing back to 4diac IDE. I had a first look at the old printing code and it looks like it is not to hard to port it to latest 4diac IDE.

However I would in the meantime recommend to already use the latest 4diac IDE release (currently 1.10.1) we did so many bug fixes and usability improvements. Furthermore with the new automatic update feature you can easily update to new features, even to nightly builds.

Cheers,
Alois

We just merged the reimplementation of printing into the development branch. In the next major release it will be in!
