Eclipse installer won't open [message #1800299] Sun, 23 December 2018 18:00 Go to next message

I'm trying to install Eclipse but after I download it and try to open it, nothing comes up. I tried changing the environment variables and java_home and reinstalled the jdk and jre multiple times and tried different versions but none of the solutions I find end up working. Any help is appreciated.

This is the version of eclipse that i'm trying to install:

I'm using jdk and jre 1.8.0_192

Are you sure you have execute permission on the download? Depending on the tool used, it might not have been set on the filesystem.

You could try the installer from this page:

https://wiki.eclipse.org/Eclipse_Installer

I.e., this one:

http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/oomph/products/eclipse-inst-win64.exe

This is the latest version and can be used to install older versions of Eclipse.

If that fails, try running it from a command line. Perhaps that will provide more clues why this is failing on your system. If you run "java -version" on the command line, which version of Java is found by default on your system?

Is there some specific reason why you are trying to install an older version of Eclipse instead of the most recent version?

This fixed it, I thought the version I linked was the newest version. Thank you.
