Min Mac OS for 11.1? [message #1798792] Sun, 25 November 2018 06:30 Go to next message

Hi,

What is the min Mac OS version needed to support Sirius/Obeo Designer 11.1?

Obeo Designer 10.1 was working on my Mac 10.8.5 but upgrading to 11.1 makes it unusable. It seems to be due to an Eclipse issue with older macs (I have exactly the same issue than https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=537027).

So I know this is not strictly inside Sirius/Obeo Designer but I would like to know if there is a workaround to use 11.1 on Mac OS 10.8.5 or 10.9.5 (like using a plugin on an older Eclipse) or if I have to upgrade my laptop (and to which version in order to support the future versions of Sirius/Obeo Designer)?

Any suggestion welcome!

Thank you very much,

Yves.

Hi Yves,

Obeo Designer 10.1 was build on Oxygen (and Sirius 5.1).
Obeo Designer 11.1 is built on Photon (and Sirius 6.1).

We are not aware of an existing workaround to use Obeo Designer 11.1 or Eclipse Photon on old versions of macOS.

I found the same bugzilla than you and also this forum entry: https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php?t=msg&th=1094100&goto=1792059&

Keep in mind that OS X 10.9.5 is at least 2 major releases old, so the SWT team may or may not have the resources to address the problem.

Note that if you must keep your old versions of macOS, you might try to get an Eclipse Oxygen Bundle and install Eclipse Sirius 6.1 from its oxygen update site: https://download.eclipse.org/sirius/updates/releases/6.1.0/oxygen/

All the update sites (and zipped update sites) can be found in https://wiki.eclipse.org/Sirius/Update_Sites
