Ganymede Update - why does it not work? What is the point? [message #334779] Fri, 27 February 2009 10:38 Go to next message

I've installed Eclipse SDK 3.4.2 SR2 and am attempting to install the
latest versions of GEF and other plugins. Why are the latest versions
not available from the Update wizard? I see only GEF 3.4.1 available
when version 3.4.2 has been out for some time? The same for EMF - the
updater only has 2.4.1 when 2.4.2 is available.

I thought the point of these "release trains" was to synchronise the
latest versions?

The SR2 version of GEF has just been releases in the last week or so,
not "out for some time". There has also been some infra/mirror trouble
at the Eclipse Foundation, which is why it's not showing up correctly
for you at the moment (they've almost got it worked out, AFAIK).

It is ... and when Ganymede SR2 is released (and makes it to the
mirrors) it will be synchronized. But the Eclipse "classic" SDK is what
they call a +0 component ... it releases 3.4.2 a couple of weeks before
Ganymede SR2.
