I am wondering if there is a way to create a repository of UML element that I can use instances of in several diagrams. For example, say I want to use one class in several different composite structure diagrams, or a log message that I want to be able to change in a centralized manner which reflects the change in all diagrams the message is used in.

If I have understood everything correctly I am suppose to build a class diagram first and use instances of what I have there in other diagrams. I however just want a repository of elements that I can use in several composite structure diagrams.

I have tried to create elements in the different "ownedMember", "member" tabs/files displayed in the Model Explorer but this does not seem to be correct and if it is I find no way to create instances of the elements I have stored there.

(I use Eclipse Oxygen 4.7.0)
Any help is much appreciated!
