I am attempting to use the eclipse installer to install the Eclipse IDE for Java Developers, I am on an ubuntu based linux system. The installation has created a window with the title "Do you trust these certificates?" asking me to accept the "Eclipse.org \, Inc.; IT; Eclipse.org Foundation \, Inc." certificate. I cannot interact with this window in any way so the installation is stalled.

Is there a way to resolve this or at least safely terminate the installation?

It sounds similar to this:

https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/mv/msg/1094752/1793895/#msg_1793895

At best you can kill the process. It sounds like your Java installation is missing some root certificates, but of course the dialog shouldn't lock the IDE even if that's the case. :-(

You could try to just download a package from https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/

Hi Ed,

I'm experiencing the exact same problem. And, I downloaded the installation package from that very page. I'm pretty sure the original poster did too.

This is the Java installation that comes with vanilla Ubuntu.

How do we actually report this as a bug? How do I actually update the root certificates?

A bit more googling and I found this exact same bug, from 2008 (!)

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=229331

Looks like it was marked fixed and the fix stopped working.

So, do I attempt to reopen the old bug, or do I create a new bug?

Me too. It happens when attempting to update the installer (from build 3559 to build 3615). Downloading the installer again does not help as the OS X and 64 bit Linux installer are of the older build.

Screen copy of the end of the road attached.

Open a new Oomph bug:

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/enter_bug.cgi?product=Oomph

Is this happening while installing something or while updating the installer?

So I did what I should have done right off the bat: check the forum stickies. In the warning to Linux users it says to be sure to ditch OpenJDK and get the real Java from Oracle. The whole Eclipse ecosystem has many known problems with OpenJDK and it's not officially supported. So I'm thinking that reporting a bug would be just a waste of time for everybody.

(This problem was while updating the installer; I had a different problem while installing something but updating the installer is supposed to fix it)

I did open https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=538380 and changed the code so this should never happen again (but then the certificates should always be considered valid anyway, so it should not have been a problem with a proper JDK/JRE with the proper root certificates in the first place).

Something has happened, today it worked on both OS X 10.11 and 64 bit Linux.
