I have June 2018 Eclipse Photon a redhat linux 7. I only have gtk 2 installed; had to remove gtk 3 because eclipse could not be started. Anyway, with gtk2, when I open a Java 9 project, in the text editor If I do horizontal scrolling, it messes up screen, it draws a few vertical scrollbars (in addition to a vertical scrollbar) at the end. I am using Exceed Hummingbird on my PC as a X-Server.

I have been using Eclipse Kepler for years on redhat linux without any problems, but photon has scrolling issues, so it is unusable.

How can I overcome this problem? I searched on google while problem has been reported, no solutions (which work) are provided.

Appreciate your response. If I cannot resolve the problem, I will have to run Eclipse from my PC on Windows.
