Hi all,

I can see that an MQTT binding was recently added in the ESH codebase, hffps://github.com/eclipse/smarthome/pull/5101.

Now, I am familiar with the MQTT binding in the OH2 project, hffps://docs.openhab.org/addons/bindings/mqtt1/readme.html and hffps://community.openhab.org/t/mqtt-binding-v1-11-getting-started-101/33958. I know also that this binding is a OH1 binding, but can be used in the OH2.

Now, I would like to use the MQTT binding for ESH, but I could not find any documentation. It seems that it's not similar with the binding in the OH2 and also the rules are different between ESW and OH2.

So my question is, is there a documentation of how to use this binding?

Thanks in advance,

Stavros

Note that the MQTT binding is still work in progress, there are still open PRs like https://github.com/eclipse/smarthome/pull/5450 and https://github.com/eclipse/smarthome/pull/5535.

For that reason, the stuff isn't yet rolled out to openHAB either. Once it is complete, it will be included in openHAB and documentation will follow.

The MQTT binding is not yet merged and still in development: https://github.com/eclipse/smarthome/pull/5450
The PR you mentioned was closed, not merged.

Thanks Kai and Simon for your responses.

I haven't tried it yet, but how easy is it to get the current MQTT binding from openHAB and use it in ESH, at least until the new binding is fully functional?

Is there a roadmap or sort of rough estimation when the work will be completed?

Probably within a week, when the last remaining already accepted merge request got merged.

Cheers, David
