Hi,

what exactly do you mean by "open" the file with EMF Forms? Do you use the EMF Forms editor?

Best regards,

Jonas

Sorry for the terminology mixup. I don't mean opening .view files.
I mean after I have created a set of custom views and I am testing my my view models, I am running into an issue with both import and export of XMI files that do not have the .xmi file extension.

I would like to be able to import and export .xmi files with the same file extension as the rest of the team is using. Right now I am only presented with the .xmi option for importing projects or importing children.

So, for example if the Sirius team gives me a file that is called "oursample.system" I currently have to rename it to "oursample.xmi" to be able to import it into an EMF Forms based application.

Sorry for another question:

What exactly is a "EMF Forms based application"? Do you use the EMF Client Platform Model Explorer? Or more precisly: where exactly do you trigger the import/export ?

Best regards,

Jonas

I am trying to use the sample e3 application to test layouts created with EMF Forms, but I am using models created by Sirius modelling tools.

When I use the EMF store provider, I can only import .xmi files, but if I use "Eclipse Workspace Experimental" i can import any file I want.

Why is this, and can I modify this behavior?

Also, is there better documentation available than is available on the website? Much of that is nonsensical or missing material.

Hi,

if you work with Sirius, maybe you use a custom version of an Eclipse Modeling edition, rather than the e3 example application. This would include the default Project Explorer, where you directly import files into the workspace.
You could then create an editor embedding EMF Forms or use the generic editor: https://eclipsesource.com/blogs/tutorials/emf-forms-editors/

I hope this help, but it is very difficult to suggest the right way to go without knowing the detailed requirements about your project.

About the documentation: Feedback is highly appreciated, please point our missing material or "nonsensical" parts, so that those can be fixed.

Best regards,
Jonas

Re: Documentation,

An example of documentation that makes no sense or is incomplete is the "view proxy" example.

https://eclipsesource.com/blogs/tutorials/emf-forms-view-model-elements/

The example code is blank and there are NO working examples to be found on the web.

Another example is the "control grid" example.

https://eclipsesource.com/blogs/tutorials/emf-forms-view-model-elements/

How does one implement a control grid, following these instructions? There seems to be nothing like this to be found while working with EMF forms.

Jonas,

Beautiful, thank you!

I have also recently found a dead link:

The page:

https://eclipsesource.com/blogs/tutorials/emf-forms-view-model-elements/

leads to the dead page:

https://eclipsesource.com/blogs/emf-forms-custom-control-areas/

Thank you again!
