I want to discuss potentially creating a new discovery participant type but I'm not sure what the 'official' process is. Should I describe the problem/potential solution in this forum for discussion or should I create an issue on eclipse/smarthome github and discuss there?

Hi Tim,

There is no official way to discuss this sort of questions. This forum is mainly used as a first point of contact. The best way to get feedback from the core developers is in fact the issue tracker on github. I'm looking forward to discuss your ideas there.
