Eclipse Smart Home currently uses Tycho with its eclipse-plugin and feature packaging. I understand that part of bundles is being used in Smart Home Designer to assemble Eclipse plugin, however forcing Tycho in all modules brings certain overhead to rest of project.

P2 metadata can be generated from existing bundles and their manifests produced from regular java build.

The key part of Tycho, which is validation of MANIFEST.MF files is great, however same thing can be achieved with other tools which do not require complete new packaging mechanism and might work faster.

I am aware that touching a build, which is present from beginning of project, is extremely risky thing. Thats why I would like to ask, if there is a chance to even consider such change.
