Problem with 4DIAC 1.9.0 versions on Mac OS X [message #1785384]

Hi,

I have tried 4DIAC (versions RC1, RC2 and RC3) on Mac OS X and whenever I start the application, it crashes and I get the following error:

"An error has occurred. See the log file
/Applications/4diac-ide.app/Contents/MacOS/workspace/.metadata/.log."

However, no log file is created in that path. My Java version is Java 8 Update 161. I am running High Sierra version 10.13.4.

I have 4DIAC 1.9.0 RC3 running without any problems on Windows 10 under the same Java version (Java 8 Update 161). Anyone managed to get any of the latest versions of 4DIAC running on Mac?

hi,

I have a Mac with the same setup as you. I've tried RC2 some weeks ago and today I installed RC3 today and it worked as I would have expected.
When you start 4diac do you get till the workspace chooser dialog? If yes could you try a workspace in your users working directory. Maybe you don't have write access at that location.

However I most confess I only have a mac for doing some small 4diac tests, so I don't know much about this system.

Hi Alois,

Thank you for your reply. To answer your question: yes, I get till the workspace chooser dialog. I have tried to change the workspace location to another directory, as you recommended. Even to a folder where I have a workspace for Eclipse Oxygen 2 working without any problems. But I still get the same error as before. Also tried with the recently released 1.9.0 version, same error (app crashes, no log file created).

hi,

hmh i think this is beyond my knowledge of the MAC. I can describe how I installed and maybe I did something different then you. So I downloaded the dmg package, and when finished double clicked on it. Then this funny "install window" appears and I draged the 4diac into apps. I think at this point and when later starting 4diac from the launcher i got the warning that this is internet content if I really want to start and then the workspace chooser appeared and then I could start. Does this help?

Hi again,

That is exactly the procedure that I followed to install and run 4diac on my mac. So far I have tried with versions 1.8.4, 1.9.0 (RC1, RC2, RC3 and final release). I have tried multiple locations for the workspace. Still, I always get the same error.
