Why can't Project Setups be disabled in Projects Page? [message #1780248] Fri, 19 January 2018 03:16 Go to next message

Hej,

Why is it not possible* to uncheck/disable a Project Setup once it has been run?

I would like to be able to uncheck/disable Project Setups, but I suspect there might be a reason you can't.

In the Project page (File -> Import -> Oomph -> Projects Into Workspace) You can choose/check the Project Setups you want to run. The Project Setups will then be run at every start of the IDE and they cannot* be deactivated. This means, for instance, that you cannot remove projects if they where installed via a Project Setup since they will be reinstalled when the IDE is restarted.

* Note: If you want to uncheck/deactivate a Project Setup you can still do it. Go to Navigate -> Open Setup -> Workspace. The workspace.setup file will open, mark it. Make sure you can see the Properties View and click on the "Streams" property. At the far right a small button with three dots (...) will appear. The button will take you to a dialog where you can add and remove streams/project setups to be active.

It is intentional. That workflow is intended for adding things, but I suppose there isn't any overriding technical reason why it couldn't be allowed remove things. Of course by this point all the tasks that were specified have been performed so any "undoing" of that would also need to be manual.

Yes, unchecking/disabling a Project Setup should absolutely NOT do anything (like removing things) . This would be consistent with any other, not yet used, unchecked Project Setup.

Can this be achieved somehow or is it to late with regards to backwards compatibility/confusing current users?
If unchecking is not an option then maybe a right click menu item to disable could be added?

I guess you can also provide your own custom mechanism to remove it from the workspace.setup.

Is this a common enough need for you that the less obvious way of editing the workspace.setup isn't sufficient?
