Eclipse keeps running in 125% scaling when my desktop is set at 100% [message #1780032] Tue, 16 January 2018 11:00 Go to next message

I'm using Eclipse Oxygen with Java 9 and Windows 10.

I use a laptop with 2 external monitors.

When I started working with eclipse it was working just fine, because I was always working on my external screens.

One time I opened it on my laptop and it auto scaled to 125%, which is fine since my Windows 10 screen configuration is set to scale to 125% when I'm on my laptop.

But now, even when I'm on my external screens and my desktop is set to 100%, eclipse still runs in 125%, which is impossible to work with.

I tried adding these lines to eclipse.ini, but it didn't work:
-Dswt.enable.autoScale=false
-Dswt.autoScale=false

Any idea how to force eclipse to use 100% DPI and not scale up to 125% anymore?

Thanks in advance!

Have you logged out and logged back in after connecting to an external screen? Some applications will not update their scaling on the fly.

Well yes, logging off and on is a solution to this problem.

But what I don't understand is most of the time, I don't even launch eclipse until I'm on my external screens, and it still start at 125%.

I can understand that eclipse doesn't scale "on the fly", but starting it while on an external screen with the desktop setting set to 100% shouldn't launch it at 125% right?

It does not care of Eclipse, as the main culprit is Windows.

Well as much as I would like to put the blame on Windows, eclipse is the only application that seems to behave this way.

I mean when this behavior happens, all the other applications I launch are launched at 100%, only eclipse keeps launching at 125%.

Eclipse runs on Java, and it seems that Windows is lying to Java runtime until you have logged out and in again.

OK, I guess that would explain that behavior.

Thanks!
