How do I split windows in Eclipse? [message #33827] Mon, 14 March 2005 07:03 Go to next message

Can anybody tell me if and how it is possible to split two code windows
vertically or horizontally in an arbitrary perspective?

Or do I have to create my own perspective to achieve this? If so, how do I
do that.

Thanks

Tschuri

You can drag an editor view around by it's tab/title-bar and place it in
relation to other editor views. Grab an editor tab and drag it around
the window - experiment with it and you'll see how it works. Search the
Eclipse help for "tiling" and you'll find a couple of pages describing it.

This feature allows you to have more than one editor view visible at a time.

HTH,
Eric

Yes...that works fine. I was triggered by the title of this item, "how to
SPLIT windows".

Splitting a window means having the same file open (and being edited) in two
panes of a window, for example viewing and editing the top and bottom part
of a larger file. Something like in Excel or Word.

Is that possible in Eclipse?
Paul.
