I've been using Eclipse since practically its birth (I've even used Visual Age), and I don't recall a release more unstable than Oxygen. Terrible.

I love Eclipse and I appreciate the hard work of the developers. But I'd appreciate that,the development, instead of adding new features, were more focused in stability.

Today,I experienced 83 Exceptions in a few seconds, plus a popup telling me to close the IDE. Below comes the detail.

I post this here, because the https://dev.eclipse.org/recommenders/ site is currently worlking badly (server connection lost, trying to reconnect) and the bugtracker is even less friendly than the forums. If some developer considers that could help, he/she could create or update the issue in the bugtracker with the information that follows. If not, well, let it be a rant.

Here's the log. To avoid repetitions, Ive replaced the stack traces by some identificators:

The problem is likely related to the fact you are using a 32 bit version of Windows 7, which has exited mainstream support. Eclipse cannot be held responsible for newer JVMs that are not fully supported on older OSes. I would be willing to bet your problems occurred when you updated Java, not Eclipse.

If that is upsetting, then you should think about developing on Linux. I am running Eclipse Oxygen on the LTS version of Ubuntu (16.04) and it is rock stable, even on the latest Ryzen architectures. So exciting.

Just a warning that the latest Ubuntu 17 is not yet LTS and should not be used for development purposes due to stability issues (in my experience).

Have to second the comment regarding Oxygen 4.7.2 on Ubuntu 17.10. Up until
the past several days, things were okay. The Oxygen screen would start disappearing off to the right of the display. Solved by re-starting Oxygen.

For the past couple of days projects in the workspace would not compile, editors would hang, mouse would move but no keyboard typing.

Today compiling a class referencing a java resource was working but now it creates a URI to a class's resource that is not even loaded in the Oxygen workspace...

I really don't want to have to go back OS versions but....

This is something... 12 days ago I installed 4.7.2 j2ee amd64 on Win7. Problems started with the Eclipse web installer blocked by some old files in Appdata. Then all sorts of problems, like unable to undo changes or format code in editor. The error popup asking to report the various errors. There just too many to even bother reporting. This version should've never been released.
