ETL development:

1. The process of extracting data from multiple sources.(ex. flat files,XML, COBOL, SAP etc) is more simpler with the help of tools.

2. High and clear visibility of logic.

3. Contains Meta data and changes can be done easily.

4. Error handling, log summary and load progress makes life easier for developer and maintainer.

5. Can handle Historic data very well.

Manual development

1. Loading the data other than flat files and oracle table need more effort.

2. complex and not so user friendly visibility of logic.

3. No Meta data concept and changes needs more effort.

4. Need maximum effort from maintenance point of view.

5. As data grows the processing time degrades.

Hi Azhar,

My understanding is that by "ETL" in your message your refer to Extract-Transform-Load as opposed to the Epsilon Transformation Language. If this is the case, I'd be inclined to ask a moderator to remove this post as it doesn't fall within the scope of this forum.

Cheers,
Dimitris
