Can't Even Start Papyrus-RT Windows Install -- Java Error [message #1775544] Tue, 31 October 2017 15:07 Go to next message

Hi,
I was looking forward to trying out the Papyrus-RT tool. But it won't even start up - it gives a Java error window. I have the latest Java and Papyrus-RT installation, downloaded today. Any ideas ?

System is Windows 7 64 bit on AMD Phenom II, 8 GB RAM
Java Version 8 Update 151
Papyrus-RT install file name = org.eclipse.papyrusrt.rcp.product-win32.win32.x86_64.zip
Installed into non-system folder to avoid write permission problems.

Hi, Bruce,

This looks like a configuration error. In the "configuration/" sub-directory of your installation you should find one or more log files named like timestamps (some long number with ".log" extension). The latest of these should have some indication of what the problem is.

HTH,

Christian

I got that error once when the JVM and Eclipse were of differing architecture - one was 64 bit, the other 32 - can't remember which was which was which...

Chances are that the Java in your path is a 32-bit Java. You need the 64-bit version.

RESOLVED - I completely uninstalled Java from my system, then re-installed the latest one. I think it was the 32/64 bit issue, because it did say that my Java was 32 bit in the control panel. Now it is 64 bit and it works. Thanks for the replies.
