So I keep trying to install Eclipse... but I'm always redirected to http://download.eclipse.org/oomph/jre/?vm=1_1_7_0_64_0&pn=Eclipse%20Installer&pu=http://wiki.eclipse.org/Eclipse_Installer&pi=http://download.eclipse.org/oomph/jre/128x128.png

Before, it would ask me to locate javaw.exe, and even though I downloaded the most recent JRE it wouldn't proceed. So I decided to just go ahead and install the most recent JDK. Opening the Eclipse installer now doesn't even give me the "Java not found, would you like to locate it?" prompt, it just redirects me to the link above.
I'm trying to install Eclipse and I'm really frustrated now because I don't know what to do! Please help

Which JRE did you install, as in, exactly what did you download? And is this a 32-bit or 64-bit Windows?

JDK 1.8.0 as in this site: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.HTML (used the x86 one as my computer supports it)
Using 64-bit Windows 10.

The installer is likely wanting a 64-bit JRE (x64 there) on a 64-bit platform.

I'll try that, but I don't see why the x86 version shouldn't work when my computer supports it.

The installer launches now, but can't seem to install anything.
Here's the log when I try to install Eclipse C++:

This is likely caused by your antivirus software locking the file as soon as it's download so that it can't be moved/renamed. It might happened each time or only occasionally depending on timing. I my machine I has to tell the scanner to exclude scanning my .p2 folder.

Whatever it was, running the installer a second time worked for me. Strange. Thank you all anyway
