Oxygen - Can't Add Java Application in Run Configurations [message #1773438] Wed, 27 September 2017 16:20 Go to next message

I upgraded to Eclipse Oxygen today from Mars in order to get Java 9 support. I deleted my old workspace (losing my Java Application Run Configurations in the process) and started over, and when I went to go create a new Java Application in the Run Configurations window, nothing happens. If I double click on Java Application, I get this:

An error has occurred. See error log for more details.
tried to access method org.eclipse.debug.internal.ui.launchConfigurations.LaunchConfigurationsDialog.getTabViewer()Lorg/eclipse/debug/internal/ui/launchConfigurations/LaunchConfigurationTabGroupViewer; from class org.eclipse.jdt.internal.debug.ui.launcher.LocalJavaApplicationTabGroup

This is the error log entry:

I tried uninstalling the Java 9 add-on and reverting to a 1.7 JDK but neither fixed the issue. I think it might be related to org.eclipse.debug.ui plugin (Oxygen is running 3.12.0.v20170605-1534, Mars was running 3.11.101.v20160203-1230). I tried swapping these in the plugins folder but then the Java UI stuff doesn't load at all so I'm not sure what to do to fix this.

Any ideas from anyone else? Has anyone else seen this? I've attached a screenshot of the error.
