I am a novice Maven user and can't seem to find an easy path to "clean install" the Kura sources when developing with eclipse on Windows 10.

I used the Eclipse Installer and have git commit 4eb901522a411f17b0560b5e84a17fc64e594b94 from 1 Aug 17. I followed the instructions(???) at [1] and think I did the Eclipse Installer OK. Not terribly clear, there seem to be competing instructions over at [2]. Anyway, this installed a number of projects eg Eclipse Kura, Karaf, Target platform etc.

In the Eclipse Kura project there are sub Maven Project, eg org.eclipse.kura.core, each contains a pom.xml which can be built. There is no pom.xml in eclipse above these projects to build all the sub project. There is a pom on the disk in the parent directory. Where is this in eclipse? Will it help me???

So I went to disk. There is a build-all.sh but I am on Windows and don't have mvn installed. So I tried the ubuntu bash but this was a a dark alley.

Surely there is a simple solution. I am a novice Maven user so I am sure I missed it.

How do I "clean install" kura on Windows?

Hi,
I believe that the best option for you is to follow the instructions available here: https://eclipse.github.io/kura/dev/kura-setup.html
In particular, for Windows users, the best option is to use the Oomph installer (take a look at the corresponding section in the suggested page.
That will build Kura projects and allow you to develop on your Windows machine.

As stated in https://github.com/eclipse/kura/pull/1555/files , if you want to create a full build with installers, Windows is not a supported platform. You must use a Linux-based machine.

Best regards,
Matteo

Thanks. That worked.

It seems that the .dp in the examples is not created from the "install". The .dpp needs to be edited and "Quick Build".

Can this be done from the "install"?

Hi,
sure. The .dp creation can be done at the maven level. For example have a look here: https://github.com/eclipse/kura/blob/develop/kura/examples/features/org.eclipse.kura.example.camel.aggregation.feature/pom.xml

Best regards,
Matteo
