Download or update ? [message #1769106] Wed, 26 July 2017 10:56 Go to next message

I have managed to load fresh / clean Ubuntu 64 bits OS and download Oxygen (64 bits).
After extracting Oxygen files into external SanDisk ( via USB ) I just "Run" "Eclipse".
Than used sample "Hello world" app, with some success.

I did not have to run "Eclipse Installer" at all.

I have Raspbian OS ( 32 bits) running on Raspberry Pi 3B hardware , which came with 3.8 version of Java Eclipse.

No matter what it do - I cannot get rid of this 3.8 version.

Is that a Raspbian issue or what am I doing wrong?
I recall some issues with updating / upgrading Eclipse versions, but OF forgot the details.

I am about to ditch Raspbian, but would appreciate any pointers to resolve this "upgrade" issue on my current OS for now.

Thanks

Seems more of a Raspbian forum issue, but do the removal instructions from https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/linux/software/apt.md not handle it?
