Eclipse Neon always starts with minimised view [message #1767560]

I recently installed Eclipse Neon on Linux Mint 18. Every time I start Eclipse all views are minified. That means I always see a grey screen.

Once I click on "restore" my inteface comes up exactly as I left it when I closed Eclipse. I checked the preference and "Restore editor state on startup" is checked.

Any ideas why Eclipse seems to minimise everything on startup?
