Multi-users .p2 profile file size problem [message #1765088] Tue, 06 June 2017 09:19
Eclipse UserFriend
I work for a college and I'm having a problem using the eclipse installer in a lab environment. If I install eclipse on the local drive, the companion library .p2 folders are stored in the users profile. The folders size for a new user is approximately, 1 Gb. Each user MUST login using their own credentials and the login time takes several minutes. To add insult to injury, all the workstations are locked, so ANY changes to the workstation is automatically deleted upon reboot. This includes users profiles created for that day.

Can I redirect the companion library to the root, so it does not have to be created in the profile?
Is it possible to run eclipse off a VM server and have the workplace on the local host?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Mike
