I installed Microsoft's May updates for Windows 7 yesterday, and now my Eclipse IDE won't run, and neither will my E4 RCP app.

I double click eclipse.exe, and the splash screen flashes, but immediately dies.
No log is created.

Is anyone else seeing this issue?

Perhaps you updated Java, the Java installer removed the older version, but your eclipse.ini points at the old deleted one? There might be a clue in the log in the configuration folder of the installation...

Ed Merks,

I, oblivious of the consequences, updated java, and now Ecplise will not run. A dialog window appears and says that it cannot find the previous version of the JRE or JDK. Do you have any idea how to fix this?

You can edit the eclipse.ini to explicitly point at right version. The like will look something like this for a 64 bit JDK
-vm
C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.8.0_112/bin
