I'm currently delivering a bunch of features and plugins through an update-site, all works like a charm within Eclipse IDE.

In order to simplify a bit the UI I'm prototyping an RCP by defining a new product and application into a .rcp plugin.
By simplify I mean hiding all contributions (menu, toolbar, perspectives...) which are confusing in the context of my app. RCP solution looks promising Razz

My question is maybe naive but could we have the same result as RCP within an Eclipse IDE by simply updating the product id declared into eclipse.ini ?
=> of course I did the test and it doesn't work, but I couldn't imagine that this isn't possible by doing some "magic" Rolling Eyes

The final goal being proposing (through a preference for example) to simplify the UI of users who installed the application from the update-site into the Eclipse IDE...

Thanks by advance for helping !

EDIT: question duplicated on StackOverflow
