Hi,

I've been trying to run experiments on some legacy M2T projects, particularly looking into how I could execute these M2T transformations incrementally. I had a look at Xpand2 and I could test out the incremental generation mechanisms using the org.eclipse.xpand2.incremental.IncrementalGenerationFacade on Eclipse Galileo . However, it seems the IncrementalGenerationFacade has since been deprecated in newer versions of Eclipse since Kepler.

Please, does anyone have any idea if incremental M2T is still supported by Xpand2 in recent Eclipse releases?

Thank you,
Jimi

Hi

Reliable "incremental" is really hard to provide; verging on the impossible if manually developed and maintained. Just consider the incremental JDT compiler; it works rather well but is very far from perfect. The incremental Eclipse builder of course aggregates many individual builders and so it is not surprising that it can be really bad.

IMHO "incremental" requires auto-generated tooling, which could be available via EMF-incQuery. Eclipse QVTd has some incremental functionality too, but far from ready for prime time.
