Unable to import gradle project [message #1749241]

I'm on Ubuntu using Eclipse Neon.1 and whenever I try to import a Gradle project it fails stating that: Synchronize gradle builds with workspace failed due to an unexpected error. Unsupported method: HierarchialEclipseProject.getIdentifier()

I've tried manually installing it and using that installation but to no avail.
