Hi,

as we've already expressed in SiriusCon 2016, we see an improvement potential in Sirius and have some suggestions that we'd like to share with you. This post is part of a series of improvement suggestions and/or bug reports.

We've experienced that when using Java services in a project separate from the VSM project, we had to open this project in both the development and the runtime Eclipse instances. We don't know if this is a bug, but shouldn't it be only opened in one instance? For example, for Java services in the same project as the VSM, it is enough to open the project only in the runtime instance.

Best regards,
Amine Kechaou

Hello Amine

Thanks for your feedback. Yes, we should not be forced to open project in both eclipse.

I suggest that you create a bugzilla so that we keep the origin of that request and give the right importance to it.

Regards
Laurent

Hello Amine, did you add a dependency in the Manifest.MF from your plugin with the .odesign file in regard to the plugin which contains those services ?

Hi Laurent, Cedric,

yes I did add a dependency but it didn't work.

Actually, if the project isn't open in the runtime instance, then the .odesign doesn't validate and does not recognize the services.
If the project isn't open in the development instance, then I get some uncaught exceptions and this sort of message when I'm trying to test the editor in a Modeling project and do actions that require the services: Class org.palladiosimulator.editors.sirius.services.PCMServices Couldn't be found in the classpath of the bundle containing module PCMServices.emtl.

Here is a link for the bug report in Bugzilla https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=508553

Best regards,
Amine
