Will DLTk begin using java 8, streams, optionals, lambdas etc. any time in the near future?

What you mean DLTK using? Since 5.6 DLTK switched to Java 8 for due defaults support.

Do you think about concrete API that should support lambdas?

Mostly streams are interesting.
