TippingPoint identifies projects.eclpise.org as a source of Malware [message #1741416] Wed, 24 August 2016 17:03 Go to next message

I'm being told that TippingPoint (TrendMicro) has identified this site as a source of malware. That's caused it to be blocked by corporate firewalls. Obviously, this is a major source of pain for developers just trying to install plugins.

Has anyone run into this before? If so, any hints on how to deal with it?

Saying "I don't care if there's malware somewhere in there, I still need access" is not going to get the access granted

Try working through a trusted DevOp or Systems Engineer who understands
what Eclipse is and can help you persuade management?

That's unlikely to be a solution. We're going to be very cautious about opening up something where malware has been identified. My only real chance is to be able to show how they are wrong and there is no malware at this domain.

(Or is there agreement that there probably is malware in amongst all the very valid stuff?)

For Mordac, the Preventer of Information Services, there is always a
danger of malware. And he's right, of course.

When you say "this site", is it a reference to eclipse.org, all of
eclipse.org or just the download pages for eclipse.org?
