Curious -- Can SWT-Bot be used to test Eclipse RPC (Rich Client
Platform)-based applications? Like for example Lotus Notes or Sametime
... Why or why not?

Yes. SWTBot can be used to test RCP application, as well as Eclipse
plugins and SWT applications.

I use SWTBot to test a RCP application. "Apache Directory" is an RCP
application and uses SWTBot to test it.
