Remote source, local project [message #1735002] Tue, 14 June 2016 10:46

Hi Everybody,

I have the following situation:
My COBOL source file and all the resource I need are on a remote server (Linux) and I want to modify it from a client (Windows).

These are the tests I made:
1. I have tried to share all the directories and all the files with Samba Server, but it appears extremely slow when I compile a source file (about 20 seconds per file).
2. I have created an FTP server but I was able only to import the file from that server, not edit them directly from FTP.
3. I have installed the "Remote System Explorer" and I used the function "Create Remote Project".
It creates a local project with remote files and all works properly, but I need to use a COBOL Project and not a default project (I use a customized IDE distributed from the vendor of the COBOL).
4. I have created a local COBOL Project and I used the function "Import To Project ... (Sync)" but when I select the fold and click on finish button the cursor of the mouse blink for few second, the "Import" screen will be closed but nothing happens.

Could someone suggest me a solution?

Thanks for the support!

Fabio
