I've just begun managing Salesforce custom fields. I made some edits to the Salesforce instance, then wanted to push those edits to Eclipse. This worked a time or two, then on the most recent attempt most of the metadata disappeared on the Eclipse side, so that I only see two lines --

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<CustomObject xmlns="h t t p ://soap.sforce.com/2006/04/metadata"/>

How do I get the rest of the object file (contact.object) to show up?
