I am attempting to use the installer, eclipse-inst-win64.exe, downloaded (again) today after having installed Oracle Java 1.8 (u77) on my Windows 10 64-bit machine.

Without delay, it defers me to the "JRE Missing" page (http://download.eclipse.org/oomph/jre/?vm=1_1_7_0_64_0) even though Java is clearly installed on my machine. I am hoping that I do not have to install Java 1.7 for some reason as that would seem odd but I'm open to any suggestions!

Thanks.

It's possible that you have a 32-bit JRE installed. Open a Command Prompt window, move to the directory where the java.exe is, and run it with the -d64 switch to test if it is really 64-bit.

Well of course it was that simple.

[sighs]

Downloaded and installed the 64-bit Java and re-ran the installer. Eclipse now installed.

Thanks!
