JAR files cannot be loaded [message #1726395] Sat, 12 March 2016 05:58 Go to next message

I have just been degraded out of the University of Malta for having incomplete assignments, and, part of the problem was technical artifacts.

As usual professors are good as far as finger-pointing is concerned, the rest is considered to be the work of the student, I call it "child abuse" to be honest, but I am being sarcastic of course.

The attached error shows up when I try to load Eclipse and I am not sure this is because I have a weird version of Eclipse, or whether to file a bug at http://bugreport.java.com/, which is something you can do if you want to troubleshoot this problem.

When I try again i.e. ignore the splash error given in the screenshot, Eclipse loads anyway and a basic program executes as expected. I am unable to find an option e.g. through Import/Export or Properties where I can actually start using a package that I just downloaded, since the IDE only allows me to select from existing packages, and, copying and pasting files from JAR and TAR files to the location where Eclipse is installed
ended up in a bigger mess so my workaround is just message, so I need a UI driven and managed manner of deploying these libraries, that may be externally sourced:

HarmTrace downloaded from http://hackage.haskell.org/package/HarmTrace.
Java Machine Learning Library downloaded from http://java-ml.sourceforge.net/.

One Windows Server 2007 SP 2 the icon tray indicates that there is an update to Java but the update never kicks off perhaps this is a problem that Microsoft need to look into. On Windows 10 my files are corrupt they are worse than our politicians.

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6002]

C:\Users\Administrator>java -version
java version "1.8.0_72"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_72-b15)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 25.72-b15, mixed mode, sharing)

There is a more recent version reported on the Oracle bug tracker not sure how to install this and whether this is a stable version of JDK/JRE.

Does this look like any of the sticky notes at the top of the forum?

I.e., like this one?

I'm not sure what your copy/paste jars approach is trying to
accomplish. To try to install the things you've tried to develop into
an IDE? Do they work for a self hosted launch (from Run -> Run
Configurations -> Eclipse Application)?
