Cross-platform update site [message #328759] Tue, 03 June 2008 14:52 Go to next message

Hi,

There seems to be no straightforward way to use an update site project to
build a cross-platform update site. I release linux.gtk.x86 and
win32.win32.x86 versions of my product, so to create an update site using
my update site project, I set the target platform environment to
linux/gtk/x86, click "Build All" on the Update Site Map page, set the
target platform to win32/win32/x86, click "Build All" again, extract the
feature jar built in the features/ directory of the site, edit feature.xml
to fix version numbers for linux-specific plugins (which were reset to
0.0.0 by the second build), and rejar the feature.

I'm pretty sure this bug has been discussed in this newsgroup (or possbly in
eclipse.platform.rcp,) but I can't find any relevant bugs filed in
Bugzilla. So, knowing that this phenomenon in particular has been
discussed, I thought I'd better ask before reporting it:

Has such a bug already been filed? (Please post a link; I missed it.)

Or is this not really a bug? Am I doing it wrong?

Thanks,
David

After doing the modifications you mentioned, did your update work after running it on linux? I'm seeing similar behavior where my update works on windows but not linux.
Thanks!
