I am running on Ubuntu 14
Version: Mars.1 Release (4.5.1)
Build id: 20150924-1200

Looks like you're opening a binary file with the .jsp extension - but let's make a check by creating a new jsp file and force editing it with the JSP editor.

- I assume you are using eclipse-jee-mars-1 (20150924).

In this case I ask you to make this test:
1. right click on the folder "public" and select New > Other.. - Then, from the next wizard select JSP File and create the file.
2. At this point right click the newly created "NewFile.jsp" and select "Open With" > "JSP Editor".

If you still see an error similar to the image you posted, it might be it is an eclipse bug.
