How to fetch default git repo dir from preferences [message #1723243]

Hi all,

I'm looking for a public API method to fetch the default repository directory from the EGit preference store. I've found exactly what I need in org.eclipse.egit.core.RepositoryUtil.getDefaultRepositoryDir() but this does not appear to be in the public API. Any suggestions?
