UML Profiles and SysML FlowPorts [message #1722640] Sun, 07 February 2016 13:03 Go to next message

Hello,

I am developing a UML profile, I want to use SysML's Flowports and there is n metaclass of "flowports" because in UML there is no such thing as flowports but ports only (without direction).

Is there any way that I can use flowports at profile level. The main purpose to use flow ports is because of their direction..

Please help me out in this problem..

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Profiles only support a subset of UML. Basically, everything that is in the Papyrus Profile Diagram palette. Anything else won't be supported (Or might be accidentally, partially supported...)

A Profile is similar to a Metamodel, in this sense that it only supports few, core concepts (Stereotype, Properties, Associations, Generalization and various data types, etc.). If you need more advanced concepts from UML or SysML, you're probably misunderstanding the notion of Profiles. Maybe a UML Library (Model) would be more fit for your usage? Or even a mix of a Profile and a Library

Regards,
Camille

Thanks for the response..

So there is no way to use flowports at profile level..

Actually I want to provide flowports in profile, Is it possibe that I give only port and the in model flowport stereotype can be applied to that port to make it work like a flowport..?

Or any other alternative??

Thanks in advance
